DIY Wall Bed

Gosh! I can't believe I've been so busy that I haven't updated my Blog since March 31!

Oh well! Life IS good!

So, though I've lots of other good stuff to comment on, I feel I have to dig back a few weeks to when I stumbled upon online instructions for building a wall bed. I decided that I wanted to put a Murphy Bed in my condo in P-town.

With a referral from a friend, I decided I wanted a $7,000.00 Clei bed from the UK. Well, of course I realized I couldn't justify that. So, I instead found instructions for a bed on the Internet that would cost $395.00 to build (sans mattress).

So, from the day of conception to completion, I spent 9 days. Of course, this took some cooperation from vendors and family.

I've never been to a hardware store and found all the stuff I needed. Well, this time, I lucked out. I found everything.

Then, two days later on a Wednesday I met my dad and bought the rest of the stuff at IKEA and ordered a mattress from Sleepys.

It all worked out.

Below's a before and after photo of the space where the wall bed is.

BTW, I'm still doing music, have had an amazing trip to Wilmington, NC, but NOT the time to do everything I want . . . yet, I'm eating more organic foods . . . go figure?!

Here are the photos . . . enjoy!

Fritz and I went to IKEA for the kitchen cabinets in the new house we're just finishing building and we love them. The first one went together in just under an hour because we were learning the IKEA system. By cabinet #3 (of 18) we had it down to 17 minutes each, and they look fantastic.

I'd take $395 over $7000 any day!

Yes! IKEA can be a life (or at least budget!) saver. And, the quality it quite amazing for the price.

And, like so many things, all you need do is find your rhythm and you'll likely hit your stride.

I'm glad your place continues to come together!
